Catin didn’t arrive with a dramatic rescue story. No highway. No flood. No fire.
She arrived quietly โ a 7-year-old dog from California, carried in by someone who noticed she hadn’t been herself in days. And when our team examined her, we understood why.
Growing on the left side of her head was a large, swollen mass โ dark, taut, and clearly causing her significant pain. Her eye on that side was swollen shut. She was exhausted in the way only animals in chronic pain become exhausted: not dramatic, just… done.
We don’t know how long the tumor had been growing. We do know that by the time she reached us, she had been living with that pain for far too long.
The first night, Catin lay completely still on a woven mat, an oxygen line gently placed near her face. She didn’t fight it. She didn’t move. She simply breathed โ and that was enough.
Our team moved carefully. Examinations. Bloodwork. Gentle hands in blue gloves mapping the mass, checking her responses, watching her eyes.
Then came the part that required the most courage โ from her, and from us.
Surgery was scheduled.
Catin came through. Slowly, quietly, the way she does everything.
In the days after, she was wrapped in a soft blanket, her small face peeking out โ one eye still healing, but present. Aware. Here.
Catin is currently recovering in California. She needs continued wound monitoring, follow-up care, and eventually โ a home that understands she has been through something enormous, and that she deserves every soft, unhurried day that follows.
If you’d like to support Catin’s recovery, you can donate at buymecakeglobal.com or simply share her story. Sometimes that’s all it takes for the right person to find her.
We will update Catin’s journey every week.
